James Taylor Counselling

On your journey, you may be experiencing stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, a career change, or a desire to make a fresh start or set new goals. Navigating transitions can be difficult, and it’s okay to ask for help along the way.

As your therapist, I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your goals, challenges, and opportunities for growth. Together, we will work through obstacles and uncover strengths, using a client-centered approach that focuses on your unique priorities and needs.

In my practice, I draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. This mixed approach allows me to tailor our work to your specific situation, whether you’re seeking to manage emotional difficulties, improve relationships, or navigate life transitions.

Hello! I’m glad you’re here! My name is Leeann and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) who works with adolescents, individuals and couples who have experienced a wide range of concerns, including anxiety and depression; conflict and communication issues; grief, loss, and trauma etc. I use a collaborative and genuine approach, adjusting to meet your unique style, strengths, and goals. I believe that each person is the expert in their own life and that from time to time we require help from a professional who can support us through life’s challenges in an open, trusting, respectful, and non-judgemental way.

In my work with you I strive to balance both compassion and understanding with accountability and personal ownership. I provide a safe and accepting space where you can explore innermost concerns and experiences. This may include asking thought-provoking questions during our conversations or leaving space for silence and processing. Ultimately, I believe in the resilience of the human spirit. I invite you to discuss not only your most distressing experiences, but also the strengths and ways in which you have responded to the influence of difficulties in your life.

I am familiar with several different approaches to therapy, and am most drawn to Emotional Processing, Cognitive Behavioural (CBT), Narrative and Dialectical Behavioural (DBT) therapies.

I look forward to working with you, and until then, take good care of yourself.

Leeann

Making the decision to step out of your comfort zone and embrace change is a courageous act, and I’m glad you’re here taking the first step. You might still wonder, Is therapy the right choice for me? It’s completely normal to have these questions. Therapy is a collaborative process where we slow down, explore your inner world, and create space for emotions, relationships, self-identity, or past experiences that deserve to be seen, understood, and validated.

I deeply value authenticity, curiosity, and diversity, and my passion lies in connecting with people from all walks of life. Many of my clients are thoughtful individuals navigating self-doubt, perfectionism, cultural transitions, or a search for deeper meaning. I often work with international students and immigrants adapting to new cultures, individuals managing life transitions, and anyone seeking clarity or personal growth. It’s an honour to walk alongside my clients as they explore and rewrite their life stories.

While our past experiences, cultures, and environments shape us, it’s ultimately up to us to decide who we want to become and what life we want to live. I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can unpack your challenges, embrace your strengths, and work toward the life you envision. My approach is tailored to your needs, drawing on evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), mindfulness practices, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, we’ll develop strategies, gain insights, and foster meaningful change.

Whether you’re looking to manage overwhelming emotions, improve relationships, recover from past trauma, or simply find a space to reflect and grow, I’m here to support you. Taking this step is a brave act of self-care, and I’m committed to helping you achieve greater well-being and resilience. Feel free to schedule a free 15-minute consultation—I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together!
